Cow!

COW! This beautiful cow stare at me as I was photographing some birds in the vicinity! Cow happen to be a sacred animal in India and is worshiped routinely!

Pogostemon deccanensis

This picture was taken at KAAS plateau near Satara. This place is commonly called as 'Flower Vally' of Maharashatra. The flowers were identified as "Pogostemon deccanensis"

Pied Cuckoo

Pied Cuckoo or Pied Crested Cuckoo or Jacobin Cuckoo. They have a prominent crest, as seen in the picture above, and a long, graduated tail (hidden along a branch). The slight yellowinsh color on its underparts indicate that this is not a fully grown adult. This was spotted in the valley of "Sinhgad Fort" near Pune.

Synchronized diving!

On the last Sunday I had an apportunity to visit local park called "Bird Valley" where I could witness this fantastic landig of Spot-billed ducks! It just reminded me of olympics games of synchonized swiming!

Condemnation!

again an insect

Insects always attract me for MACRO pics. This was just another I found on Rohida fort at Bhor Near Pune.

Carnivorous plant!

Yes! Some plants are carnivourus and one of them is Drosera Indica (गवती दवबिंदू). The marvolous droplets seen near the delicate pink flower are not the dew drops but a pericular type of sticky liquid which make the passing insects to stick on the branches. The insects are then 'dissolved' by the chemicals in the dropletes and the dissolved material is then consumed by the plant! Drosera Indica is found in Africa, Australia and India (the name indica is derived from India).This perticular plant was found in "Varandha ghat" near Bhor in the state of Maharashtra.

Flight of an Seagull!

Alysicarpus belgaumensis (गुलाबी शेवरा)

A beautiful pink flower of Alysicarpus belgaumensis (गुलाबी शेवरा). Early mornig is the time when dew dances on the trees, which makes this flower even more beautiful!

Martynia Annua (विंचवी)

The intense violet spots along with a  straming yellow lines on a equally marvelous pink color makes this Martynia Annua (विंचवी) a really beautiful wildflower. I also like the small hairs accumulating the due-drops!

Reflections!

Couple of fishnets hangs in the water of Navegaon National Park. The crystal clear water attract lots of visitor in the park. Apart from its water the park also has the dense forest containing splenid flora and fauna!

After my earlier post of black beauty I thought I should also share one more pic of this butterfly. The thing I like about this butterfly is its eye! Its green, but yo wont realise it until you get that close! I found this buterfly in 'Kawadi' which is known for its birds!

Cassia Fistula

 

During spring a lot of flowers emerge. Cassia Fistula (or बहावा) is just one of them.  The pendulous flowers of the tree of Caesalpiniaceae family bloom in thousands!! (For more plowers see wildflowers of Sahyadri.

A small house in a small town - Guhagar! This beautiful town has a rich beach and equally wonderful marine life. The coast is full of coconut trees as seen on the righthand side of the picture!

Flight of a sunbird!

 

This "purple rumped sunbird"  was sitting for very long time on a nearby tree. I was holding my lens and waiting in patience! Finally it jumped to fly. I was so fortunate to freeze the moment in the frame! (By the way, it is not jumping towards that dragonfly on the top-left corner!)

The coconut tree align itself parallel to the tower of Pune University. This old building use to be a house of governor. Now it is a protected area.

Flight of a parrot!

 

 This  parrot keeps on lurking on a nearby mango tree. After a lot of trial I finally could get its flight!

Mist!

This amazing tree was standind in the mists of monsoon on the plateu of Kaas - कास (near Satara, India).  The plateu of Kaas is also known as "Plateu of flowers". After the rain subside the platue bloom into the life!

Bombax ceiba (काटे सावर)

Bombax ceiba (काटे सावर) ! This was one of the first good macros I shot! I used my Canon Poershot A400 for this shot. This was taken on the foothills of Lohgad-Visapur forts.
